When DD was a child, I had a lot of fun making clothes for her. And now, I still do, but I don’t make nearly as many things as I used to.
Today, DD played in all-day volleyball tournament in Davis, a college town about 1.5 hours from my home. And because my house is on the way back to her own home, I knew she would be stopping by tonight. So, I wanted to make something for her—you know, make her something and maybe she’ll keep hanging out with her mama ;) This morning, I quickly looked through my patterns, and pulled out McCall’s 6078, view B. This wasn’t complete guesswork on my part; I had made this top for myself, and DD expressed interest in having one too.| Ah, to have the arms of a volleyball player! |
This is a very simple top. I love things that are easy but have a lot of style, and this top fits the bill. Easy construction, and I used the coverstitch for the hems. I guessed a bit on the size. Going by her measurements, DD should wear a medium, but when I compared the pattern pieces to one of her RTW tops, the medium was way too big, so I whipped up a size small.
So what does DD think?

Shoe love: On a recent shopping trip, DD bought these cute black suede booties at Aerosoles. When she’s teaching, she’s on her feet all day, and these cuties passed the comfort and style test!
Happy sewing! ~ Peggy

ReplyDeleteGreat top, and awesome arms. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the ity patterned knits made up into tops and dresses because I have a hard time "seeing" them on myself fom the little pics while online shopping. I can definitely picture this with a waterfall cardigan and black pencil skirt.
Cute top!!!
ReplyDeletethumbs up indeed - looks good - guess who will be dropping around more . I will have to remember this trick when my DDs start leaving home.
ReplyDeleteI like! This would be great with a black cardi for work. Well done! I bet DD will be spending more time at home ;)
